Summer had arrived, and it was an especially hot day. The air conditioner was broken, and Little Bear was lying on his bed, too hot to sleep. A mosquito took the chance to bite him.
“I wish I were in the Arctic right now,” he sighed.
Little Bear had heard that the Arctic was as cold as winter all year round. Just thinking about it made him envious.
As he was daydreaming, he suddenly saw a spaceship appear outside his window.
Little Bear looked closer—and to his surprise, there was a little polar bear sitting inside the spaceship, smiling at him.
“You… you’re a polar bear?”
“Yep! I heard you wanted to visit the Arctic, so I came to take you there. Hop on!”
So Little Bear climbed into the spaceship, and off they flew into the sky.
Stars and the moon glided past them, and clouds drifted by as the spaceship soared. Before long, they arrived at the Arctic.
As soon as he stepped out, Little Bear felt the chill—it was just like winter. So refreshing!
“How cool!” he said with a happy sigh.
The little polar bear smiled. “Right? In the Arctic, we have free air-conditioning that never breaks. There’s always plenty of ice—and best of all, no annoying mosquitoes!”
Little Bear lay down on the bed in the little polar bear’s house and quickly fell into a deep, comfortable sleep.
He slept all the way until morning. Then he heard his mom calling him to get up.
When he opened his eyes, he realized—it had all been a dream.
The air conditioner was humming, blowing cool air across the room. Turns out Papa Bear had fixed it last night. No wonder it felt so nice and cool!
Still, Little Bear hoped that one day, he could visit the real Arctic—and meet a real polar bear.
