It was bedtime again, but tonight, Little Squirrel just couldn’t fall asleep.
“It’s so hot! Too hot!”
Little Squirrel couldn’t help crying out.
Suddenly, a voice said, “I’m here! You’ll feel cool very soon!”
A breeze blew in through the window.
“How nice and cool!”
Little Squirrel cried out again.
She looked out the window, but no one was there—only Grandpa Tree swaying gently.
Little Squirrel said, “Grandpa Tree, I didn’t know you had this kind of power! You can make the wind blow?”
Grandpa Tree chuckled and said, “Oh no, that’s not me. That’s the wind. The wind has arrived.”
“It’s me!”
With that voice, the Wind appeared in front of Little Squirrel, smiling warmly.
“Little Squirrel, are you happy to see me?”
Little Squirrel looked at the Wind in surprise.
“So you’re the Wind? Of course I’m happy! It’s so hot—I wish you could stay in my house forever. Wind, where do you come from? And how do you make everything feel so cool when you arrive?”
“I come from the sea, bringing the ocean’s coolness with me. That’s why it feels so refreshing.”
“No wonder—I can even smell a bit of the ocean,” Little Squirrel said.
The two chatted away.
Little Squirrel told the Wind all about the fun things in the forest, and the Wind told Little Squirrel all about the wonders of the sea.
The Wind gently brushed against Little Squirrel.
She felt cool and comfortable, and soon, she drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
