Magic Dress

The stepmother’s family was once again invited to a palace banquet, and this time, Cinderella was specifically requested to attend.

It turned out that the news of Cinderella saving an old lady from bandits had reached the palace, and the king, queen, and prince all wanted to meet this heroine.

The stepmother was furious. She told her two daughters, “I’ve consulted the most famous witch in town. She said Cinderella will wear the most magnificent dress to the palace, and the prince will fall in love with her at first sight. If she becomes the princess, the consequences will be unimaginable!”

They went to find Cinderella, only to see her handling an evening dress, which indeed looked as beautiful as if it were made by fairies.

Cinderella was overjoyed to be invited to the palace.

The little bird said, “Great! This time, the palace specifically named you. Your stepmother won’t dare to leave you behind.”

The big tree said, “But Cinderella, you can’t wear your usual rags. Use magic to create the most beautiful evening dress in the world!”

So Cinderella waved her magic wand and transformed her old clothes into a stunning evening dress.

Just as she was about to try it on, someone snatched it away.

It was her second sister.

The second sister said, “How dare you steal my dress, you thief! You’re not going to the palace!”

After Cinderella left, the stepmother said happily, “You’re so clever. This way, you’ll be the one wearing the most magnificent dress to the palace, and the prince will surely fall in love with you. Moreover, by making her look like a thief, we have an excuse not to take her to the palace, killing two birds with one stone!”

So the second sister wore the most magnificent dress to the palace and indeed became the center of attention.

When people asked about Cinderella, they said she was a thief and couldn’t be brought to the palace.

The second sister enjoyed everyone’s admiration to the fullest.

But when the clock struck midnight, she noticed people looking at her strangely, whispering and snickering.

Confused, she saw her mother rushing towards her and signaling with her eyes.

She looked down and screamed.

The most beautiful dress had turned into rags—Cinderella’s usual clothes.

She stammered, “This… this isn’t my dress. This is Cinderella’s…”

Someone said, “So you’re the thief! You stole Cinderella’s dress and called her a thief?”

They didn’t know that the magic would wear off after midnight, turning the beautiful evening dress back into its original form.
