Cinderella’s family received an invitation to a banquet at the palace.
The stepmother said to her two daughters, “The gifts are ready, but it feels like something special is missing. We must bring something unique to make sure the king, queen, and prince remember you. What should we bring?”
They came up with an idea and called Cinderella over.
The stepmother said, “We’re going to the palace banquet tomorrow. Go to the garden and pick a bouquet of fresh flowers.”
Cinderella quickly responded, “It’s the middle of winter, all the flowers in the garden have withered.”
“That’s not my concern. No flowers, no meals for you! But if you can pick some, we might take you to the palace.”
Cinderella went to the garden, looking worried.
The birds and trees saw her sad face and asked what was wrong.
Cinderella explained what had happened.
The tree said, “Only the Flower Fairy can make flowers bloom in winter.”
The bird said, “That’s not difficult. Cinderella has magic; she can summon the Flower Fairy.”
Cinderella said, “But it’s winter now, the Flower Fairy is sleeping…”
Before she finished speaking, the Flower Fairy appeared, yawning.
The tree couldn’t wait and had summoned the Flower Fairy itself.
The Flower Fairy said, yawning, “What’s the matter? I’m hibernating.”
The tree said, “We want you to make the flowers bloom.”
“Bloom? Are you kidding? It’s the dead of winter, no flowers can bloom. Don’t disturb my sleep!”
She turned to leave, but the bird said, “Flower Fairy, you always say you’re kind-hearted. Won’t you help Cinderella?”
“Yes, with fresh flowers, her stepmother will take her to the palace. Please help her!”
“And Cinderella takes such good care of the flowers and plants in the garden…”
The bird and tree pleaded, and the Flower Fairy reluctantly said, “Alright, alright, I’ll make the flowers bloom. Just this once, don’t tell anyone!”
“Absolutely not!”
With a wave of her hand, the entire garden bloomed with colorful flowers, as if it were spring.
When Cinderella handed the flowers to her stepmother, she and her daughters were stunned.
They took the bouquet to the palace and received many compliments.
However, they did not mention Cinderella’s efforts at all, nor did they take her to the palace.
