In the previous episode, the Big Bad Wolf tied up Ball and locked him in his castle. But Ball caused so much trouble that the wolf couldn’t sleep all night. Frustrated, the wolf devised a new plan.
The next evening, when Ball once again asked for milk before bed, the wolf surprisingly agreed.
Suspicious, Ball watched as the wolf summoned a small cat into the room. It was a little tabby cat, thin and frail.
The wolf sneered, shaking his fist at Ball. “I know you’re a little troublemaker, keeping me up at night with your demands just so I’ll kick you out and you can escape! Well, forget it! From now on, this cat will take care of you. Whatever you want, ask him. But don’t get any ideas—this castle is guarded, and if you try to escape, you’ll regret it!”
Turning to the little cat, the wolf growled, “Make sure he has what he needs, but don’t untie him. And don’t disturb my sleep!” With that, the wolf retreated to his room and fell into a deep, exhausted sleep.
The moment the wolf was snoring, the little cat hurried over to Ball. “You asked for milk, right? I’ll get it for you.”
Ball stopped him. “I was just fooling the wolf. I don’t actually drink milk at night.”
The little cat blinked in surprise. “No wonder he said you were trying to drive him mad so he’d let you go!”
Curious, Ball asked, “How did you end up here?”
Tears welled up in the little cat’s eyes. “I was visiting my grandma with my mom in another forest. I wandered off while playing and got caught by the wolf. He brought me here, saying he hates cats and needs me to catch all the mice in his castle. But I’m just a little cat—some of the mice are bigger than me! When I couldn’t catch them, he beat me and didn’t give me food.”
Ball’s eyes blazed with anger. “No wonder you’re so thin! Why didn’t you try to escape?”
“I did,” the cat whispered. “But the wolf castle is heavily guarded. I was caught. The wolf starved me for three days and beat me even worse.”
“That wolf is too wicked!” Ball declared. “Don’t worry. From now on, I’ll protect you. You’ll never go hungry again, and I won’t let him hurt you. We’ll find a way to escape together.”
Suddenly, voices called from outside the window.
“Me too! I want to escape!”
“And me! Help us too!”
Ball jumped. “Who’s there?”
The little cat whispered, “It’s the rabbit and the deer. The wolf caught them too. He’s keeping them in cages to fatten them up before eating them.”
Ball clenched his fists. “Don’t worry! I’ll protect you all, and we’ll escape together!”
Turning to the little cat, he said, “Find all the food you can in this room.”
The cat hurried off, returning with a table full of delicious treats.
“The wolf said I can give you anything, but I can’t untie you. Tell me what you want, and I’ll feed you.”
Ball shook his head. “I’m not hungry. This food is for you. Look at you—you’re skin and bones! Eat, so you can get your strength back. We kids need to eat well to grow strong.”
The cat hesitated. “But if the wolf finds out, he’ll punish me.”
“Don’t worry,” Ball assured him. “The wolf’s snoring so loud, he won’t wake up even if there’s a thunderstorm. And if he finds out tomorrow, I’ll take the blame. He’s afraid of my Big Handsome and won’t dare touch me.”
Encouraged, the little cat happily dug in. He even sneaked food to the rabbit and the deer in their cages.
As Ball watched, he felt a sense of responsibility grow within him. He was determined to rescue the little animals and escape the wolf’s castle.
But how?
Will Ball and his new friends manage to escape? Stay tuned for the next episode!
