Just after the New Year, Handsome Cat went to town to visit his little master and the Long-Haired Dog.
Without Handsome around, Ball felt a bit lonely.
One day, he couldn’t resist any longer and sneaked out of the cat castle to play. He climbed trees one moment, chased butterflies the next, and played until he was all sweaty.
But then, he spotted a terrifying figure—it was a tiger! He saw it leisurely searching for prey while slowly approaching Ball’s direction.
Ball’s heart raced in fear, as Handsome Cat, who usually protected him, wasn’t nearby!
Ball looked around and saw a hole under a tree. He quickly ran over to it and slipped inside.
Soon, the tiger arrived, but it didn’t notice Ball and continued walking away. When the tiger was far enough, Ball came out of the hole, feeling relieved. He sighed and thought to himself, “I’m so clever!”
Encouraged, Ball ran around more boldly. He even made friends with a little rabbit. But just as they were having fun, the rabbit’s mother called it away.
Ball was about to find new friends when suddenly, a familiar figure appeared in the distance.
It was the big bad wolf! The same wolf he and Handsome Cat had encountered before.
This time, Ball stayed calm. He saw a large bundle of firewood nearby, so he quickly hid inside it to avoid being seen.
But to his surprise, the wolf walked straight to the firewood, picked it up, and carried it toward the wolf’s castle. It turned out to be the firewood the wolf had just gathered.
Ball’s heart raced—if he was taken to the wolf’s castle, things would get bad.
He tried to jump out, but he was stuck.
Sweating profusely and too scared to make a sound, Ball was nearly in tears.
Sure enough, after a while, they entered the wolf’s castle.
The wolf went inside, placed the bundle of firewood down, and opened it up.
Ball quickly ran out, but the wolf spotted him immediately and recognized him.
As the wolf chased after him, he shouted, “Everyone, come help! Catch this little cat! This rascal is always with that demon cat!”
Ball ran for his life. But how could he outrun the wolf, especially with so many other wolves joining in to surround him?
Soon, the wolf caught Ball, squeezing him tightly in his grasp, nearly suffocating him.
The wolf growled, “You little troublemaker! You and that demon cat have caused me endless trouble! Now you’re finally in my clutches, and I’ll decide what to do with you.”
Ball struggled and said, “You better treat me well. If I lose even a single hair, Handsome won’t let you off.”
Hearing this, the wolf squeezed Ball even tighter. “You little troublemaker, you may not have the skills of that demon cat, but you sure talk tough. Just mentioning that demon cat gets me all worked up.”
At that moment, another wolf spoke up, “Big Bro, calm down. Our plan was to capture him and use him as a hostage in the cat castle. We didn’t mean to squeeze him to death. If he dies, with the demon cat’s skills, he could flatten our wolf castle! We’ve tried several times to catch this little troublemaker, and now he’s walked right into our hands. Big Bro, don’t let your anger cloud your judgment.”
This made the wolf calm down, and he relaxed his grip on Ball.
Finally able to breathe, Ball was tied to a chair. The wolf managed to force a smile and said, “Kid, I was just joking earlier! You’ll stay here from now on. As long as you behave and don’t wander around, I promise you’ll have good food and shelter!”
Ball protested, “You tied me up and call this good food and shelter? Let me go!”
The wolf’s expression darkened. “Don’t forget, we spared your life to use you as a hostage. Do you think you’re here for a vacation?”
What will become of Ball? To be continued…
