The Kitten is a Great Detective

One day, Ball was at home, reading comics and eating snacks. Suddenly, a loud voice said, “Ball, how dare you steal and eat the cake! Didn’t I tell you that the cake is a gift for others, not for you?”

Ball was startled and looked up to see his angry mother glaring at him.

Ball said, “I didn’t eat the cake. I was eating peanuts.”

Ball’s mother replied, “Not only did you steal and eat the cake, but you’re also lying. How infuriating!”

Ball felt wronged and angry. He rushed next door to Handsome Cat’s house, grabbed him, and said, “I didn’t eat the cake, but my mother insists I did. You have to help me find the real thief and prove to my mother that she’s wrong.”

Without waiting for a reply, Ball dragged Handsome Cat into his kitchen and pointed at the table. “The cake was originally placed here,” he said.

Handsome Cat looked around and said, “You should learn to solve problems on your own. You can’t rely on others for everything; otherwise, you’ll never grow up. Now, be a great detective and find the real cake thief to clear your name.”

With that, Handsome Cat left without looking back, ignoring Ball’s calls.

Ball thought, “I have no choice but to do this myself.”

He looked at the table and noticed some cake crumbs and coconut shreds.

“Ah, it was a coconut cake that was stolen,” Ball thought.

He then saw more crumbs and coconut shreds on the floor, leading under a chair.

Could the thief be hiding under that chair?

Ball moved the chair and gasped in shock.

Behind the chair, there was a hole in the wall leading outside.

Ball crawled through the hole and saw more cake crumbs and coconut shreds leading to a big tree.

He ran to the tree, looking left and right, but couldn’t find anyone.

Suddenly, he heard a rustling noise from a nearby bush.

He went over and found a little mouse.

As the mouse tried to run away, Ball caught it.

The mouse said, “Why did you catch me?”

Ball said, “Because you stole and ate the cake from my house.”

The mouse said, “You can’t just accuse me without evidence!”

Ball said, “Don’t deny it. Your mouth is still covered with strawberry jam from the strawberry cake!”

The mouse replied, “Nonsense! I ate a coconut cake…”

Ball laughed. “Aha, you can’t deny it anymore. The cake from my house was a coconut cake. I was just tricking you earlier. The thing on your mouth isn’t strawberry jam, but coconut shreds – the special kind my mother makes. So I knew right away that you were the one who stole and ate the cake. Now, you’d better go and confess to my mother.”

Ball’s mother was outside, hanging laundry when Ball brought the mouse to her.

Ball said to the mouse, “Tell my mother the truth.”

The mouse hung its head and said, “I stole and ate the cake.”

Ball’s mother said in surprise, “So it wasn’t Ball who ate the cake!”

Ball said, “Mom, I told you I didn’t eat the cake, but you didn’t believe me!”

Ball’s mother replied, “It was my fault. I shouldn’t have accused you without knowing the truth. I’m sorry.”

Ball then pointed to the hole in the wall and said, “And look, I also found the mouse hole.”

Ball’s mother was startled and said, “Thank goodness you found it, Ball. We need to seal that hole immediately.”

Just then, Handsome Cat appeared from somewhere, smiling. He said, “This time, Ball became a great detective, not only solving his own problem but also helping his family solve theirs.”
