The Fox and the Grapes

There was a fox that one day passed by a vineyard.

It thought to itself, “I’m quite thirsty, but I wonder if these grapes are sweet?”

Just then, the fox heard a voice saying, “These grapes are really sweet!”

The fox looked up and saw it was a monkey, who was picking and eating grapes from the vine.

Hearing this, the fox hurried to pick some too.

However, the grapevine was too tall, and it couldn’t reach.

The fox stood on tiptoes and stretched its arms, but still couldn’t pick any grapes.

The fox jumped up but still couldn’t touch the grapes.

So, it tried to imitate the monkey by hugging the tree and climbing up, but since it couldn’t climb, it eventually gave up.

The fox brought over a stone and stood on it, tiptoeing and stretching its arms, but before it could reach the grapes, it fell off the stone.

The fox was in so much pain that it grimaced, holding its sore bottom as it limped away, muttering, “These grapes must be sour, not tasty at all. I wouldn’t eat them!”

The monkey laughed loudly from the tree, saying, “The fox can’t get the grapes and claims they are sour, but these grapes are very sweet!”
