The Farmer and His Sons

There was a farmer who owned a vineyard, and his whole family depended on it for their livelihood.

The farmer was diligent, working hard in the vineyard every day, and the grapes grew very well.

But his children were a bit different from him.

They thought growing grapes was too hard work and always wished for something for nothing, fantasizing that one day gold would fall from the sky, making them rich.

The farmer was very worried. If he couldn’t work when he got older, how would his children live?

After much thought, he finally came up with a solution.

He gathered his children and said to them, “You always wish for gold to fall from the sky, but I actually have a jar of gold buried in the vineyard soil. However, I’m getting old and forgetful, and I’ve forgotten where I buried it.”

Upon hearing this, the children exclaimed, “Why didn’t you tell us earlier! With just us, we can turn over all the land in the vineyard and find it.”

Without waiting for the farmer’s response, they grabbed their hoes and went to the vineyard to find the gold.

However, after turning over all the land in the vineyard, they couldn’t find any gold.

They angrily said to the farmer, “Are you tricking us?”

The farmer looked at the vineyard and said contentedly, “I didn’t trick you. I’ve already seen the gold, and in due time, you will too.”

When it was time for the grape harvest, that year’s grapes were particularly good and abundant.

The farmer sold the grapes and divided the money among his children.

He said to them, “Labor is like gold, and this is all thanks to your hard work in the fields.”

The children suddenly understood, realizing the farmer’s intentions.

From then on, they worked diligently in the vineyard, just like the farmer.
