The Old Woman and the Doctor

There was an old lady who was very wealthy.

One day, she developed an eye disease and her eyesight began to deteriorate, so she hired a doctor to treat her eyes.

The doctor demanded a high fee, and the old lady agreed without hesitation.

They agreed on the price for the treatment, and due to the poor condition of the old lady’s eyes, they decided that the doctor would come to her house for treatment.

When the doctor arrived for the first time, he noticed many valuable items in the old lady’s house, which tempted him.

While applying medicine to the old lady’s eyes while she kept them closed, he took advantage of the situation and stole many valuable items.

Later, the old lady’s eyes were healed, but her belongings had almost all been stolen.

The doctor reminded her, “Your eyes have been cured, according to our agreement, you should pay me now.”

However, the old lady refused to pay anything.

In anger, the doctor took the old lady to court.

The doctor said to the judge, “We agreed that if I cured her eyes, she would pay me, but now she’s refusing to pay.”

The judge asked the old lady, “He has indeed cured your eyes, you should pay him. Why aren’t you keeping your promise?”

The old lady replied, “Yes, I promised to pay him, but the condition was to cure my eyes. However, my eyes are worse now than before. While they weren’t great before, I could still see things in my house. Now, I can hardly see anything. Can you expect me to agree to pay him?”

Upon hearing this, the doctor blushed.

Under the judge’s questioning, he had to confess the truth.

The judge ordered him to return all the stolen items, and he was also sentenced to prison for theft.

The judge remarked, “You, who were originally promised such a high fee by the old lady, yet you were insatiable and committed a crime. You’ve brought this upon yourself.”
