Wolf and Crane

Once, the big bad wolf ate too hastily and accidentally swallowed a bone.

The bone got stuck in its throat, causing immense discomfort.

The wolf went to various doctors, hoping they would help remove the bone, but many doctors shook their heads, indicating that the bone was lodged too deeply and couldn’t be extracted.

Later, the wolf heard about a crane doctor who was skilled at removing bones from people’s throats. So the big bad wolf hurried to see it.

The crane doctor was already busy helping someone else remove a bone.

Its beak was long and slender, acting like a pair of tweezers, accurately and swiftly extracting the bone from the throat.

The big bad wolf was overjoyed.

As soon as the previous patient’s bone was removed, it rushed forward and said to the crane doctor, “Quickly remove the bone for me, and I will reward you double.”

So the crane doctor agreed.

Because the bone was lodged deeply, the crane doctor had to put its head into the big bad wolf’s mouth and exerted tremendous effort to finally remove the bone.

The big bad wolf breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave.

The crane doctor stopped it, saying, “You haven’t paid the fee yet!”

The big bad wolf retorted, “You just put your head into my mouth, I could have eaten you in one gulp. Now that you’ve come out safely, without even thanking me, you dare ask for a fee from me?”

With that, the big bad wolf turned and walked away.

The crane doctor was both frustrated and angry, saying, “If I had known, I wouldn’t have removed the bone for it.”

Someone nearby commented, “Consider this fee as a lesson learned about an ungrateful person. Remember never to trust the promises of bad people!”
