Witch and poisoned apple

The Queen, having failed to kill Snow White with a dragon, decided to send the witch Saya instead.

She found Saya and said, “I know you love gold and jewels. I can give them to you—after all, I’m the Queen, and I have endless treasures. But you must first help me deal with Snow White.”

Saya replied, “No problem, no problem. I’m not like that little dragon. He’s too young.  I’ve been around longer than he has. But how do you want me to deal with her?”

The Queen said, “It’s very simple.” She took out an apple. “All you have to do is make her eat this apple.”

Saya said, “That’s it? Don’t worry, don’t worry. I’ll make sure she eats it. This apple looks so delicious and sweet. Who wouldn’t want a bite?”

The Queen interrupted her, saying, “It is indeed the sweetest apple in the world, but it’s also the deadliest! I used magic and prepared it over 49 days. One bite, and she’ll die!”

Saya said, “No problem, no problem. I’ll make sure she eats it…”

Saya lived in a doorless tower in the forest. She immediately took the poisoned apple, mounted her broomstick, and flew off to find Snow White.

But as soon as she flew out of her tower, she saw Snow White.

There she was, holding a basket and picking apples in the forest.

Saya trembled with excitement, thinking, “What a coincidence! This must be fate. Snow White, you’re doomed!”

She cast a spell to hang the poisoned apple on an apple tree, blending it in with the others.

As expected, Snow White saw the big, red apple and happily picked it.

But she didn’t eat it—she just put it in her basket.

Saya decided to lure her into eating the poisoned apple. She pretended to be picking apples too and struck up a conversation.

“Young lady, picking apples, are you? That big, red apple in your basket looks delicious.”

Snow White smiled and said, “Yes, it’s the biggest and reddest apple I’ve ever seen. Would you like it? Here, take it.”

Snow White held the apple out to her.

Saya quickly waved her hands, saying, “No, no, no, I couldn’t possibly eat your apple. You eat it, you eat it…”

“Don’t be shy. You eat it,” Snow White insisted.

The two kept pushing the apple back and forth until Saya had no choice but to say, “I picked some apples too. Why don’t we sit down together, eat apples, and chat?”

“Alright, I was just thinking of taking a break. ” said Snow White.

They sat on a tree stump, and Saya pulled out an apple from the basket she had just filled.

Taking a bite, she exclaimed, “Wow, it’s so sweet! You have to try it!”

Snow White took an apple from the basket and bit into it as well.

Saya trembled with glee—Snow White had finally eaten the poisoned apple! This was the deadliest apple in the world; just one bite was supposed to make her collapse.

But Snow White didn’t fall.

Saya couldn’t help but ask, “Don’t you feel unwell? Like, dizzy or something?”

“Nope, not at all.”

Suddenly, Saya herself began feeling dizzy. Everything around her started spinning. Could it be…?

She looked at the apple in her hand and said, “Did I… eat the biggest, reddest apple you just picked?”

“Yes, I saw how much you wanted it but were too shy to ask, so I secretly put it in your basket. Don’t be polite…”

Saya nearly fainted. Quickly, she turned away and swallowed the antidote.

Luckily, she had asked the queen for one in advance. Otherwise, this would’ve been the end for her.

Snow White looked at her and said, “Why do your lips suddenly look pale? Do you need to rest? Where do you live? I’ll take you home.”

And so, Saya, riding her broomstick, took Snow White to her high tower, which had no door at the top.

Once they were back at the tower, Snow White helped Saya lie down to rest and then got busy.

“I think you have low blood sugar. Didn’t eat breakfast, did you? Let me make something delicious for you…”

Before Saya could refuse, a plate of fragrant potato pancakes appeared in front of her.

She couldn’t help but swallow and started eating one, then another…

Before long, the plate was empty.

Despite feeling full, Saya didn’t forget her mission. She said, “Miss, I’m full now. You must be hungry too. There’s an apple on the table—why don’t you eat it?”

Fortunately, she had asked the queen for extra poisoned apples, or her mission would fail.

“The apple on the table? I already grated it into the potato pancakes. Didn’t you taste the apple flavor?”

Thunderstruck!

Saya quickly pulled out another antidote and swallowed it.

She felt weak, unsure whether it was from fear or the effects of the poison.

Snow White handed her a cup of tea and asked, “What’s wrong? Your lips are turning black.”

Saya took a sip of the tea, gasped, and stubbornly said, “Th… there’s still an apple in the wardrobe. You… you should eat it.”

Fortunately, there was a third poisoned apple.

“I already made apple tea from the one in the wardrobe…”

Saya looked at the tea in her hand and asked, “Is this the tea I’m drinking?”

“Yes…”

Saya hurriedly drank the antidote again.

Afterward, despite her weakened state, she grabbed Snow White and, riding on a broom, flew her back to the palace.

Snow White struggled and said, “I want to stay and take care of you. You’re still so weak…”

After Saya returned, she lay weakly on her bed to rest. The queen came in and angrily said, “Saya, Snow White has returned to the palace, and she’s still alive! You must explain yourself!”

Saya struggled to sit up and said, “Q… Queen, three poisoned apples couldn’t kill her, and I almost died instead. The antidote is all gone. If I didn’t send her back, I might have died first. But don’t worry, once I recover, I’ll definitely help you kill her!”
