Smart bunny defeated fox

Once upon a time, there was a clever little rabbit.

One day, he went to play with his good friend, the little lamb.

The weather was lovely, and the little rabbit strolled along, humming a tune.

As he looked up and saw the sun, he greeted, “Good morning, Mr. Sun.”

Mr. Sun replied, “Ah, it’s the clever little rabbit! Good morning to you too.”

Lowering his gaze to the roadside grass, the little rabbit exclaimed, “Hello, little grass.”

The grass replied, “Good morning, little rabbit. But be careful, ahead under the big tree by the road, there’s an uncovered drain. Don’t fall in, okay?”

When the little rabbit reached the tree and took a look, he realized the seriousness of the situation. If someone fell in, it would be troublesome. He needed to find a way to prevent accidents.

The clever little rabbit looked around, thought for a moment, and came up with a plan.

He raised his head and loudly said to the tree, “Uncle Tree, can you give me some branches? I want to use them to encircle the puddle, so everyone won’t accidentally fall in.”

Uncle Tree joyfully exclaimed, “The little rabbit is not only clever but also kind-hearted. How can I, Uncle Tree, not help?”

With a shake, many branches fell from the tree.

The little rabbit thanked Uncle Tree and picked up the branches, placing them around the puddle.

He said, “This is not a permanent solution; we need to notify someone to cover the drain.”

Uncle Tree reassured, “Leave it to me. I’ll make a call to inform them.”

Expressing gratitude once again, the little rabbit went on his way to find the little lamb, feeling relieved.

Soon, the little rabbit arrived at the doorstep of the little lamb’s house.

Seeing the door open, he was about to call out to the little lamb when suddenly, he heard cries for help and saw the little lamb in distress.

Startled, the little rabbit quickly hid and peeked inside.

He witnessed a fox carrying the little lamb on its shoulder, heading towards the open door.

The little rabbit quickly hid behind the house, watching as the fox captured the little lamb. His heart raced with urgency.

Quietly trailing behind them, the little rabbit pondered, “What should I do? It’s too late to inform the police now. I must rely on myself to save the little lamb.”

They soon arrived at the puddle near the big tree from earlier. At this moment, a brilliant idea struck the little rabbit.

He rushed to the puddle and pushed down all the branches he had placed around it, covering the puddle completely.

Standing on one side of the puddle, the little rabbit loudly called out to the fox ahead, “You wicked fox! Release the little lamb immediately, or I won’t spare you.”

Startled, the fox wondered who had such a commanding tone. Could it be a tiger?

When the fox turned around and saw the little rabbit, it burst into laughter, almost out of breath.

“So, it’s just a little rabbit. I can’t believe you have the audacity. Even if you begged for mercy today, I wouldn’t spare you. I love eating rabbits the most.”

The little lamb cried out, “Little rabbit, run! Don’t worry about me.”

The fox was already approaching the rabbit. The little rabbit said, “Hold on, put the little lamb down first.”

The fox replied, “Why should I listen to you?”

The little rabbit said, “If you put the little lamb down, I’ll stand here without moving, waiting for you to come and catch me.”

The fox, considering the situation, thought, “This rabbit is quite agile; catching him would be challenging. Since he says he won’t run if I release the lamb, I’ll agree.”

The fox said, “Fine, I’ll put it down, but I’m not that foolish. I’ll tie it up.”

With that, the fox tied the little lamb to another tree.

Eagerly, the fox then rushed towards the little rabbit.

To his surprise, the little rabbit stayed perfectly still, waiting for the fox to approach.

The fox couldn’t believe his luck, thinking, “They say this rabbit is clever, but he’s actually a fool. He doesn’t even run when he sees me coming. Today, I not only have lamb meat but also my favorite rabbit meat. This is just perfect.”

Just as the fox reached out to grab the little rabbit, he felt a sudden emptiness beneath his feet, as if he was descending in an elevator.

Unbeknownst to the fox, he had stepped into the uncovered drain covered by branches and fallen.

In panic, the fox exclaimed, “Why is it so dark… and why is there so much stinky water… Help!”

The fox’s cries echoed from the opening of the drain.

At that moment, workers arrived with a manhole cover. They had hurried over after receiving a call from Uncle Tree about the dangerous uncovered drain.

Initially, upon hearing cries for help, they were ready to rescue, but upon discovering it was the notorious fox, they wasted no time in covering the drain.

“Let that scoundrel stay in there forever,” they remarked.

The little rabbit quickly ran over and untied the rope from the little lamb.

Grateful, the little lamb said, “Thank you, little rabbit. You truly are a clever one.”

Mr. Sun commented, “Not only clever but also brave.”

Uncle Tree and the little grass added, “And kind-hearted too.”

Blushing with embarrassment, the little rabbit said, “You’re making me blush.”

Hand in hand, the little rabbit and the little lamb went off to play.
