Once upon a time, there was a person who, while passing through a forest, encountered the spirit of the forest.
Despite one being human and the other a deity, they had a delightful conversation, creating a sense of having met each other too late.
The forest spirit took the initiative to befriend the person, saying, “From now on, we are friends.”
As they continued chatting, the forest spirit suddenly noticed the person breathing on his hands. Curious, the spirit asked what he was doing.
The person replied, “Because it’s so cold outside, my hands are almost frozen. I’m breathing on them to warm them up with the heat from my mouth.”
The forest spirit understood and remarked, “Ah, I see!”
When it was time for a meal, the forest spirit invited the person to dine together.
The food was steaming hot, and as the person picked up a piece of meat, he blew on it by the side of his mouth.
The forest spirit, witnessing this, was once again surprised and hastily asked what the person was doing.
The person replied, “The meat is very hot, so I’m blowing on it to cool it down a bit.”
The forest spirit exclaimed, “From now on, we are no longer friends! Your mouth can alternately blow out hot air, warming your hands at one moment, and then blow out cold air, cooling down the food at another! I have no choice but to end our friendship!”
