A donkey was going down the mountain with its master. When they reached a cliff, the donkey looked down and saw that the master’s house was directly below. Overjoyed, it said, “Master, so that’s our home down there! If we jump from here, we can take a shortcut and get home sooner.”
The master was startled. “Don’t be ridiculous! If we jump from here, we’ll die!”
But the donkey didn’t believe him and moved forward, preparing to leap.
The master quickly grabbed its tail, trying to hold it back.
But the donkey struggled with all its might, determined to jump.
In the end, the master was exhausted and said, “Fine, you foolish donkey. If you’re set on jumping, I can’t stop you. I just don’t want you dragging me down with you.”
With that, he let go.
Moral of the story:
Those who stubbornly cling to their own views and refuse to listen to wiser advice often end up in misfortune.
