Little Fox and Sister Moon

One night, Little Fox couldn’t fall asleep. Suddenly, he heard a gentle voice say: “Little Fox, can’t sleep? Would you like me to tell you a story?”

Little Fox looked around—there was no one there.

“Look up to the sky,” the voice said. “I’m Sister Moon.”

Little Fox looked up, and sure enough, the crescent moon was hanging in the sky.

From that night on, before going to bed, Little Fox would always chat with Sister Moon. She was gentle and kind. She would answer all of Little Fox’s questions and tell him the most wonderful bedtime stories. Every night, Little Fox would fall asleep to the soft, soothing sound of Sister Moon’s voice.

But one night, as he looked at her, Little Fox suddenly noticed something strange. He sat up quickly in bed.

“Sister Moon! Your… your face looks so round! You used to be a crescent, and now you’re a full circle!”

“That’s right,” said Sister Moon with a smile. “I’m not always a crescent. Tonight is the full moon, so you’re seeing my whole face.”

“That’s amazing!” Little Fox whispered.

Then one evening, Little Fox couldn’t find Sister Moon at all. She had disappeared from the sky.

“Sister Moon! Sister Moon!” he called out, worried.

Sister Moon didn’t answer. But Sister Cloud  giggled and said, “Don’t worry, Sister Moon will be back soon.”

Just then, Sister Moon peeked out from behind the clouds.

Little Fox let out a happy sigh.

“Sister Moon, you’re playing hide and seek with me!”
