The Giant and the Witch

In order to rescue the children who had been turned into little birds by the witch, Cinderella put on the wings of the cicada fairy and flew toward Thorn Mountain to seek advice from a fairy on how to defeat the witch.

While passing through a forest, Cinderella noticed that the flowers, grass, and trees were unusually large.

She landed in a flower to rest, just like a bee nestled among the petals.

When she got hungry, she ate an apple that was much bigger than she was. Even after she was full, the apple only had a tiny bite taken out of it.

After eating, she continued on her way, only to be blocked by a mountain range. Could this be Thorn Mountain? She began to climb, but the mountain suddenly trembled.

Fay cried out, “Oh no, it’s an earthquake!”

But they soon realized that it wasn’t an earthquake—it was a giant! The “mountain” was actually a giant lying down to rest.

The giant noticed them too. Sitting up, he looked at Cinderella in surprise and said, “Are you Thumbelina? You’re not even as big as my thumb!”

“Mr. Giant, I’m not Thumbelina. I’m Cinderella. I’m on my way to Thorn Mountain. Could you tell me how to get there?”

“So you’re Cinderella!” the giant said warmly. “I’ve heard you’ve helped many people. Thorn Mountain is just past this forest. Come, I’ll take you there. It’s only a few steps for me. Someone as tiny as you could easily get lost in the Giant Forest.”

The giant let Cinderella sit on his shoulder and strode through the forest.

But after only a couple of steps, Cinderella suddenly cried out in alarm. The giant quickly asked what was wrong.

Cinderella had spotted the witch approaching from afar.

“Mr. Giant, please put me down quickly! The witch is powerful—she controls the wind and has a Black Dragon Magic Wand. I don’t want to drag you into this!”

But the giant just laughed heartily. “Look at me—I’m as big as a mountain! Why should I fear a little wind…”

Before he could finish speaking, a fierce gust of wind knocked him to the ground in an instant.

The witch arrived right after. She had spotted Cinderella by chance and secretly followed her. When she saw Cinderella heading toward Thorn Mountain, she chased after her more eagerly.

Looking at Cinderella now, the witch sneered, “You’re heading to Thorn Mountain to ask the fairy how to defeat me, aren’t you? Don’t even think about it!”

She reached out to grab Cinderella—but suddenly realized she couldn’t move. She had been firmly seized.

It was the giant.

Holding the witch tightly, the giant shouted to Cinderella, “Run! Thorn Mountain is just ahead—go find the fairy! I’m so big, she can’t do anything to me!”

And Cinderella ran as fast as she could.
