Little Rabbit and Little Deer

Hearing there would be a meteor shower that night, after dinner, Ball clung to Handsome Cat and insisted that he take him outside the Cat Castle to watch the shooting stars.

Before leaving, Ball said, “Wait a minute, I need to grab a flashlight—the road will be very dark tonight.”

But Handsome Cat replied, “Nonsense! Our cat eyes are excellent at seeing everything in the dark. Who needs a flashlight!”

They walked outside the Cat Castle. Ball discovered that although the road was dark, he could indeed see everything clearly. He couldn’t help but marvel at his marvelous cat eyes.

Not long after leaving the Cat Castle, Ball saw a little rabbit heading toward the Wolf Castle. He quickly stopped the rabbit and said, “Where are you going? That’s the Wolf Castle ahead! If you take one more step, you’ll be caught by the Big Bad Wolf!”

The little rabbit was startled and said, “I’m heading back to the Rabbit Castle, but it’s so dark I couldn’t see the road clearly. I thought the place ahead was the Rabbit Castle, but it turned out to be the Wolf Castle.”

The little rabbit hurriedly ran in the opposite direction, and Ball and Handsome Cat breathed a sigh of relief only when they saw him safely inside the Rabbit Castle.

At that moment, a car nearly hit a tree and screeched to a stop with a loud “crash.”

It turned out to be the deer family. Because the little deer was sick, Deer Dad and Deer Mom were taking him to the hospital. However, along the way the car’s light went out, and Deer Dad, who was driving, could barely see the road—almost crashing into a tree.

Handsome Cat frowned and said, “We cats can see everything in the dark, but you deer can’t. This is too dangerous. I’ll drive you to the hospital.”

So Handsome Cat and Ball got into the car, and Handsome Cat drove fast and steadily. Before long, they arrived at the hospital.

Fortunately, their timely arrival turned the little deer’s critical condition around.

After leaving the hospital, Handsome Cat said, “It looks like we won’t see the meteor shower tonight. Ball, are you disappointed?”

Ball replied, “Although we won’t see the meteors tonight, helping the little rabbit and the little deer makes me happier than watching the shooting stars!”

At that moment, a meteor streaked across the sky. Ball had never seen such a big and beautiful meteor before!
