The New Year had arrived. Little Rabbit, Little Squirrel, Little Hedgehog, and Little Fox had agreed to spend it together at Little Rabbit’s house because Little Rabbit’s parents were away for work and couldn’t be home for the holiday. They decided to keep him company.
“Ding-dong…”
The doorbell rang. Little Rabbit, busy decorating the house, knew his good friends had arrived. He quickly opened the door and warmly welcomed them inside.
When they entered, they saw the house was already filled with a festive atmosphere.
Little Rabbit said, “I’ve prepared fresh carrots, and I’ll make my specialty carrot cake for everyone!”
Little Squirrel said, “I brought some nuts and will make nut rice for everyone.”
Little Fox said, “I picked the freshest mushrooms and will make the most delicious mushroom soup for everyone.”
Little Hedgehog said, “I picked the sweetest apples and will bake apple pie for everyone!”
With that, they started cooking together, chatting and laughing. The house was filled with joy and cheer.
Before long, a table full of fragrant New Year’s dishes was ready. They sat down to eat and continued chatting.
Little Fox, while eating the carrot cake, said, “Little Rabbit, your carrot cake is amazing! It’s the best I’ve ever had!”
“Little Fox’s mushroom soup is so tasty, fresh, and sweet!”
“Little Squirrel’s nut rice is also delicious; it warms you up from head to toe!”
“And Little Hedgehog’s apple pie is so soft and sweet!”
The animals all ate to their hearts’ content.
After dinner and a warm bath, the little animals lay comfortably in bed. They snuggled under soft, thick quilts, listening to the sound of the wind and watching the snow fall outside. They exchanged New Year’s blessings and wishes before drifting off to a sweet sleep.
