A flower said to the dwarf, “The princess will arrive today.”
One of the dwarfs replied, “Alright, alright, you’ve been nagging for a month, saying some princess would move into our home. And not just any princess, but the most beautiful one in the world. How could that even be possible? Princesses only live in palaces!”
Before he could finish speaking, he saw a stunningly beautiful young woman standing before him. Her black hair flowed like silk in the wind, her skin was as white as snow, her eyes sparkled like stars, and her lips were as red as cherries. He had never seen anyone so beautiful.
The other dwarfs were equally stunned.
“Hello, everyone…”
Snow White greeted them warmly.
“Wh-who are you?”
“People call me Snow White…”
“Snow White? The flowers, trees, and plants of the enchanted forest told us we would meet the most beautiful princess in the world. We didn’t expect it to be true!”
“And they said she would live in our house…”
At that moment, a dwarf named Canny grew wary and said, “You’re not planning to move into our house, are you?”
Snow White said a little embarrassedly, “It’s a rather presumptuous request, but…”
Before she could finish, the flowers and grass beside her chimed in, “Let her stay with you!”
The plants and trees began chattering, all vying to recount the story of how Snow White was being hunted by the queen.
The dwarfs, filled with sympathy after hearing the story, said, “The Queen is so wicked! Don’t worry, you can stay with us!”
However, the dwarf named Canny immediately protested, “No way!”
“Why not?”
“Who knows whether she’s good or bad?”
“Come on, Canny, although your name is Canny, don’t be too canny…”
“I’m too canny? If I weren’t canny, all our possessions would have been swindled by scammers!”
“We all contribute in our own ways to keep this home running; it’s not just thanks to you!”
“Besides, Snow White doesn’t seem like a bad person at all!”
“Bad people don’t walk around with a sign on their face saying so.”
“You’re being completely unreasonable!”
…
At that moment, Snow White gently said, “Please don’t quarrel on my account. How about this: if you’re willing, let me stay temporarily. If you decide you don’t like me, you can ask me to leave at any time.”
“That sounds fair,” said a dwarf named Mature. “Snow White can stay for now. In three days, if anyone still objects to her presence, she’ll leave then.”
Although Canny was displeased, Mature was the most respected among them, so he didn’t argue further. He thought to himself that as long as he raised his objection in three days, she wouldn’t be allowed to stay.
And so, Snow White followed the seven dwarfs back to their home and moved into their little cottage.
