A House Built Overnight

That day, Cinderella, once again disguised as Cedric, went to see the prince to discuss the establishment of an orphanage.

When the prince explained that building an orphanage wouldn’t be quick—requiring at least a year from site selection to construction to completion—Cinderella was a bit disappointed.

The prince asked, “Why are you in such a hurry?”

“Look, the weather is getting colder. Winter is approaching. If it gets any colder, I fear the homeless children might freeze to death. That’s why I want to build a  orphanage …”

She didn’t mention that she herself was almost half an orphan.

The prince suddenly understood and felt even more admiration for her.

After some thought, he said, “In that case… my grandfather owns an abandoned house, originally a hunting retreat. It’s not far from the city. If you’re willing, it could be repaired and turned into the orphanage. That would be much faster than building a new one.”

Cinderella immediately grew excited and asked the prince to take her to see it.

They boarded a carriage and traveled to the outskirts of the city.

As soon as they got out of the carriage, they saw the house.

Though it was old, it was large, and the garden outside was spacious—perfect for children to play in.

Cinderella said happily, “Your Highness, if you agree, let’s make this the orphanage.”

“Of course! But this place has been abandoned for a long time. The house leaks, and the garden is flooded and overgrown with weeds. Repairs will take some time too.”

“Leave the rest to me. I couldn’t trouble you further,” Cinderella replied with determination.

Although Cinderella said so, the prince thought, “How can he manage it all on his own? Besides, I am a prince, with far greater resources at my disposal. ”

So, the next day, he brought along his servant, intending to make arrangements for rebuilding the house.

However, upon arriving, he was astonished to find the old house gone. In its place stood a beautiful new home. The stagnant water and weeds outside had vanished, replaced by a blooming garden filled with flowers.

The prince was stunned. He repeatedly confirmed it was the right house before stepping inside.

The interior was cozy and whimsical, clearly designed for children. Small beds with soft blankets were neatly arranged.

It turned out that the previous night, after nightfall, Cinderella had come to the house. Waving her magic wand, she transformed the old house into a brand-new one.

Another wave of her wand made the weeds and standing water disappear, replaced by vibrant flowers.

Entering the house, she waved her wand again, and little tables, beds, and blankets appeared.

By the time she left, the house was warm, cheerful, and full of charm.

As the prince and his servant stood in bewilderment, Cinderella arrived.

The prince hurriedly asked, “You’ve come at the perfect time! How did the old house transform into a beautiful new one overnight? Even if construction crews worked through the night, it couldn’t happen this fast—unless it was built by angels!”

Cinderella smiled and replied, ” Your Highness, I’m even more surprised than you are. I think perhaps the angels wanted to help the homeless children move in quickly and lent a hand.”

She couldn’t reveal the secret of her magic.
