A wolf was very hungry and met a skinny dog.
Disappointed, the wolf thought, “There’s not much meat on this dog, but something is better than nothing.”
So, the wolf lunged at the dog. However, the dog quickly said, “Wait a moment! Mr. Wolf, please listen to me first. I guarantee you’ll get to eat a lot of meat!”
Hearing the promise of more meat, the wolf paused.
The dog said, “You see, I’m so skinny now. Where would you find any meat to eat on me? But in a few days, my master will be getting married. You can imagine how good my meals will be this month and how much meat I’ll have gained in a month. If you come back to eat me then, you surely won’t be disappointed!”
The wolf thought this made perfect sense, so he let the dog go.
A month later, the wolf returned and called out to the dog, demanding it come out to be eaten.
The dog laughed and said, “Sure, I’ll come out right away so you can eat me. Let me first call the gatekeeper to open the door.”
To the wolf’s surprise, the gatekeeper was a fierce and ferocious guard dog. As soon as the door opened, the guard dog charged at the wolf.
The wolf, having suffered at the guard dog’s hands before, had no choice but to run away as fast as he could.
